The “Finest Gourmet Coffee In The World”

Makapueo
Farms

Makapueo Farms is a Hawaiian family- and veteran-owned coffee farm rooted in the historic lands of Captain Cook, South Kona. Located on the slopes of Mauna Loa where rich volcanic soil, coastal breezes, and cool upland cloud cover create the perfect growing conditions, we are proud producers of authentic 100% Kona coffee.

We manage and processed coffee from over 200 acres throughout the region, harvesting well over a million pounds of raw cherry each year and exporting certified green Kona beans to coffee lovers around the world. But despite our scale, we’ve stayed true to what matters most: caring for the ʻāina, honoring tradition, and doing things the right way—from seed to cup.

We oversee every step of the process in-house, starting with our own nursery and orchard development. Our dedicated field team tends to each tree year-round, and when harvest season comes, every single cherry is handpicked at peak ripeness to ensure exceptional quality. We use a wet milling process to bring out the best characteristics in each bean, followed by a slow, low-temperature drying method that preserves flavor integrity.

After drying, all of our coffee is carefully hulled, sorted, and graded to meet—and exceed—USDA standards. Whether you’re buying green beans or roasted coffee, when you buy from Makapueo Farms, you’re getting the real thing: certified, traceable, and grown with pride on Hawaiian soil.

While our farm itself is not open to the public, we welcome you to visit our sister company, Menehune Coffee, which offers retail experiences, tastings, and coffee tours for anyone wanting a closer look into the world of Kona coffee.
